Al-Qaeda’s resurgence in new Pakistani strongholds is the latest sign that George W. Bush is losing “the war on terror” and has become a dangerous liability to the American people.

Bush is now so widely despised in the Middle East that he is serving as Osama bin Laden’s poster child for recruiting and training a new generation of terrorists. Bush’s insistence on continuing the Iraq War further plays into bin Laden’s hands, as captured al-Qaeda letters attest.

The hard question now for the American people is whether they can afford two more years of Bush.
