Paul Krugman | Time to Take a Stand
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/090707C.shtml
Paul Krugman reports for The New York Times: “Here’s what will definitely happen when Gen. David Petraeus testifies before Congress next week: he’ll assert that the surge has reduced violence in Iraq – as long as you don’t count Sunnis killed by Sunnis, Shiites killed by Shiites, Iraqis killed by car bombs and people shot in the front of the head. Here’s what I’m afraid will happen: Democrats will look at Gen. Petraeus’s uniform and medals and fall into their usual cringe.”
Scott Ritter | Reporting From Baghdad

Scott Ritter writes for Truthdig: “Iraq has become a prestige destination for every aspiring journalist or struggling anchor, determined to get ‘the big story.’ The most recent manifestation of this syndrome is CBS News anchor Katie Couric, who earlier this week traveled to Iraq.”

Uh, y’all DO realize that the Suzanne Swift case is over a year old don’t you?
She’s already plead guilty to the charges against her, served her 30 days and been released. Based on her testimony and an independent Army investigation one charge was filed against one of the individuals she claimed harassed her, and disciplinary action was taken against them, but the other two charges were found to be without merit.
Just another primary example of why females have NO BUSINESS in Combat Arms MOS’s, and particularly have no business in theater ourside of a medical unit. They allow themselves to get involved in relationships with other soldiers and everything turns to shit. STAY HOME AND BAKE COOKIES!

LOL!! S, I actually agree with you. Women are nurturers, not fighters, and should not be fighters unless their young are threatened. I’d much prefer baking cookies (though I’d rather be eating them, especially the ones my Mom bakes) to being among a bunch of sweaty, smelly, dirty guys with rifles shooting all over the place. I don’t like guns and abhor violence, so I definitely would not be soldier material.

PS. I could see myself being a field nurse though… that is part of the ‘nurturing’ and ‘caring’…
