EVENT: The Council in Vancouver to urge doctors to support public health care

Support public health care
Dear friends,

As reported in yesterday’s Globe and Mail, “The incoming president of the Canadian Medical Association says he allows patients at his private clinic to avoid long surgical waiting lists by paying cash and having their operations right away.”

The Council of Canadians will be in Vancouver from August 16-22 to promote the benefits of a publicly-funded and publicly-delivered health care system at events leading up to the Canadian Medical Association’s annual general meeting.

For more information on our activities, including a public event with the BC Health Coalition about public solutions for a public system on Sunday August 19 at 12:00 pm at the Vancouver Art Gallery, please visit www.profitisnotthecure.ca.

To read fact sheets for the public as well as ones that will be distributed to the Canadian Medical Association delegates in Vancouver, please visit www.profitisnotthecure.ca.

You will also note that we will have ‘LIVE WEB UPDATES from Vancouver’ by Jan Malek and Guy Caron on our Profit Is Not the Cure website between August 16-22.

Visit our canadians.org website to read Maude Barlow’s speech “Profit is not the cure, committing to health care for all“, which was presented at the S.O.S. Medicare 2: Looking Forward in May 2007 please go to. To see the CPAC broadcast of this session please go to the Canadian Health Coalition website.

Thank you,

The Profit is Not the Cure team at the Council of Canadians
