September 2007 – More than 1,000,000 Iraqis murdered

In the week in which General Patraeus reports back to US Congress on the impact the recent ‘surge’ is having in Iraq, a new poll reveals that more than 1,000,000 Iraqi citizens have been murdered since the invasion took place in 2003.

Previous estimates, most noticeably the one published in the Lancet in October 2006, suggested almost half this number (654,965 deaths).
These findings come from a poll released today by ORB, the British polling agency that has been tracking public opinion in Iraq since 2005. In
conjunction with their Iraqi fieldwork agency a representative sample of 1,499 adults aged 18+ answered the following question:-

I think BlackWater is helping to kill

elspeth, judging by that silly assed comment, I’m not sure you CAN think!

As to the ‘article’, YEAH, RIIIGGGGHHHHTTTT! They sampled less than 1,500 households out of a populaton of over 4 MILLION and expects to get anything that resembles any form of accuracy? That’s just plain retarded. WHERE were those 1,500 households? Were they all around Baghdad or were they in the South?

Please people, engage your brain housing groups BEFORE buying into this type of garbage because when you don’t, it makes you look even dumber than you already are!

  3. Lembit Maimets says:

How does this number of casualties rate amongst other recent genocides?

  4. str8shooter says:

You’re ASSUMING that the number is correct, and there is NOTHING to indicate that it IS in fact even remotely correct. Even the Lancet article of last year has been fully debunked as flawed in every reasonable aspect because of the fact that their sampling pool was entirely too small to give any semblence of accuracy.

The REAL question is this; why do you assume that this report is in any way representative of the true number of casualties?

  5. verbena19 says:

I only put the ORB poll’s findings up here. I am not assuming anything.

  6. str8shooter says:

I didn’t imply that you did V, my comment was directed to Lembit who obviously assumes that the information contained in the original story has any credibility.

Since you have found the time in your busy schedule to post in this thread, I would like to ask why you post stories like this one? I would have thought by now that we have discussed enough of these stories for you to realize that they’re usually politically based, politicially motivated, and rarely have even the first shread of truth in them! This garbage story is no different than the current cause celebre by the Dim-O-Craps in Congress, to wit, trying to assail Rush Limbaugh by taking his commentary entirely out of all context. Simply put, this is just another example of the DNC approved Kool-Aide that is swilled by the “useful idiots” on the Left, and reported to other “useful idiots”, to give support to their unsupportable agenda because they know that their constituancy is too lazy, or stupid, to do the most simple, basic, research to find if there is any credibility to the story in the first place.

  7. verbena19 says:

S: I merely posted it to show that there are different polls, showing different casualty figures. (Or merely because that was the first thing I found to post…. )
