Formerly TV-turn-off week: http://www.adbusters.org/metas/psycho/mdw/
I wonder how many of us can actually unplug for an entire week. If any of you out there will attempt to do this — if even for a day or two — please stop by here next week and put in a comment telling us how you spent your ‘unplugged’ time… As for me, my family would enjoy having me spend more time with them and my garden needs lots of work after the long, hard winter. The weather is nice, lots to see and do: books to read, people to visit and nature trails beckon. And since this is Earth Week, there are many Earth-friendly activities going on everywhere. The Peel chapter of the Sierra Club has a tree-planting event on Saturday and there are Spring cleanups around town… So this idea is definitely worth some serious consideration:
The idea is simple: take your TV, your DVD player, your video iPod, your XBOX 360, your laptop, your PSP, and say goodbye to them all for seven days. Simple, but not at all easy. Like millions of others before you, you’ll be shocked at just how difficult – yet also how life-changing – a week spent unplugged can really be.
Since I just found out about this, I’m already a day late starting, but I’ll try it anyway and see how long I can make it before I plug back in… So for now I’ll say ‘adieu’ … 🙂
