Police against Cheney protests in Australia

Police have opposed today’s planned protest march against the acerbic US VP, but the activists intend to defy the police ban:

Activists opposed to the Sydney visit of US Vice President Dick Cheney intend to defy a police ban on a protest march through the city.

The Stop the War Coalition say protesters plan to march down George Street (about 5.30pm AEDT) after rallying at Town Hall.

But Deputy Police Commissioner Terry Collins, Specialist Operations, says protesters don’t have police permission to march through the city because it will disrupt traffic.
