** DAY OF ACTION: Wednesday September 26 2007

11:00am

Meet at Metro Park- corner of Queen and Church St.

With the Provincial election stepping into high gear across Ontario a new wave of organizing has begun to challenge years of painful cuts to housing, assistance, services and wages. The Ontario Coalition Against Poverty stands with nearly one hundred other community groups, social agencies, student groups and labour unions as well as thousands of low income people in demanding immediate increases to the minimum wage and social assistance, the construction of new affordable housing and the province wide implementation of a Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy around immigration status.

This Day of Action will represent a significant challenge to those on the campaign trail and we want OCAP members and supporters to be at the forefront of this initiative. Many different groups will be holding their own marches and actions before converging together at Queen’s Park- we are calling everyone who supports the work that OCAP has done in fighting for a 40% increase to welfare and disability to join the Raise the Rates feeder march on September 26th.

If you would like more information please visit www.ocap.ca or join us and the rest of the Toronto Anti-Poverty group for a Public Meeting one week before the Day of Action.
